Dadra and Nagar Haveli is a Union Territory in western India. The capital of this territory is Silvassa. Marathi, Hindi and Gujarati are the main languages of this state. The union territory of Darda and Nagar Haveli are surrounded by Gujarat and Maharashtra. Dadra and Nagar Haveli is in the water house of the Daman Ganga River, it flows through the territory. Silvassa town is the main place of this territory and many beautiful places are located in this town. Agriculture is the main occupation of Darda and Nagar Haveli’s people. The main crops are paddy, ragi, wheat . Forestry is the economic resource of this territory. The taxes are very low and there is no excise duty. The climate of this territory very good from November to March months.  A lot of tourists are visits in this time. Tourist Spots to be seen in around Silvassa town and Dadra. The nearest railway station is Vapi via Western Railways, which is about 18 km from Silvassa. Dadra and Nagar Haveli , almost touches the Mumbai (Bombay) - Baroda - Delhi National Highway No.8 (Western Express Highway). Silvassa is about 14 kms, from Bhilad and Vapi.

1.Vanganga LakeGarden

The Vanganga Lake and Island Garden situated at a distance of 5 km from Silvassa. It is a very beautiful lake garden and it’s filled with wooden bridges, the flowers, jogging paths, thatched huts, and paddle boats. The garden is very beautiful and many movie songs are  pictured in this garden. The garden created with central island is connected with bridges in Japanese style.The garden is fully greenery and  boats, fountains, restaurants and jogging track are the main attractions of this garden.  Vanganga lake garden is also a famous tourist spot in silvassa.

2. Hirwavan garden, Piparia

Hirwavan Garden is another tourist attractions in Silvassa . The water play is a theme here and can be seen in the form at roaring waterfall, cascading rivulet, gurgling springs streams all merging in a waterbody. The centrally located garden is popular for visiting.

3. Tribal Museum , Silvassa

Daman has a rich history of tribal culture which is conserved by the Tribal Cultural Museum. This Museum has various artifacts like  hunting tool, tribal fishing gadgets, masks, also life size statues and musical instruments.

4. Khanvel

Khanvel is situated at a distance of 20 km from Silvassa. The drive to Khanvel is lined with tall trees on both sides of the road. This serene landscape, surrounded by lush green hills, beckons nature lovers with its rolling meadows and native-styled cottages amidst terraced gardens. The calm and gentle Sakartod River flows past Khanvel.

5. Vanvihar Tourist Complex, Chauda


Since there was no accommodation available for the people, the department has created 36 bedded luxury  and Economic class Accommodation at Chauda. The surrounding area has been landscaped and tourist throng in thousands to see and enjoy the location apart from the tourists staying in the complex.  The Department has built a small check dam on the adjoining river Sakartod to operate  boating facilities.

6.Vandhara Udyan

Vandhara Udyan is an ideal spot for picnic lovers and also for those who love to be around lush gardens. The park has sprawling lawns and special pavilions are built for visitors so that they can enjoy some quiet time there.

7.Portuguese Church

The Portuguese rules over Daman and traces of this colonial rule are still seen in various parts of Silvassa. One of them is the Church where the architecture clearly shows Portuguese style of buildings.

8. Lion Safari, Vasona

Vasona is a 10 km drive from Khanvel. This is home for the Asiatic lion which is a reserve. Visitors can move around this reserve in special vehicles where they can look at the lions.

9.Water sport and tentage complex


Silvassa is blessed with rivers and hence it is also a place where one can enjoy water sports. The Water Sport and Tentage Complex is a 20 km drive from Khanvel and is built on the large waterfront of the Damanganga river. The complex also gives a breathtaking view of the Madhuban Dam.

10. Bindrabin Temple
