Gujarat Governor is the head of the Gujarat government and politics. The fulcrum of politics of Gujarat is the legislative assembly, which comprises of 182 members. The freedom of India is mainly due to two giants and they are from Gujarat. One is Mahatma Gandhi and the other is Sardar Vallabhai Patel. Gujarat has a rich political legacy and it is very deep-rooted. Gandhiji was the main man behind Indian Independence and Sardar was the first Home Minister of India. Gujarat has been the venue of historical Dandi March, which made the roots of British shaken. Now lets talk about the famous political leaders from GUjarat.

1. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi

The main man behind Indian freedom. He was the most energetic leader and his main weapon was his patience. He fought for the freedom of the country with Ahimsa (non-violence) and satyagraha(way of truth) as his powerful weapons. He is born in Porbandar which is in Gujarat. His early life was filled with laws and when he returned from London practicing laws he came to know that he have to get down for the help of poor people,farmers etc against the excessive tax. That was the start and the first step of Gandhiji in the world of politics.  His simple life and his theories made British Government out of India. He has millions of supporters who followed his steps . Gandhiji’s principle of satyagraha (from Sanskrit satya: truth, and graha: grasp/hold), has also inspired other democratic activists, including Martin Luther King, Jr., John Lennon and the 14th Dalai Lama. He became an International icon and international symbol of a free India. His principles in his life has been studied by many universities and included as their main topics. He lived a spiritual and ascetic life of prayer, fasting, and meditation. He was assassinated after one year of Indian independence. The nation and world deeply mourned on that day and still his messages and his principles are more often live today.

2. Sardar Vallabhai Patel

He is mainly known as the ” Ironman of India”. He is still lived in the hearts of millions and greatly remembered as the peacemaker uniting a scattered nation without any bloodshed. This is the main achievement of Vallabhai Patel. He was one of the main disciple of Gandhiji and assisted him on Satyagraha movement. His carrier also started as a Barrister. After his practice for laws in London he was following western culture in his looks and dress. It was Gandhiji who made him to realize about the Indian culture. After that he discarded that life style and western dress also. At the freedom movement he was arrested and jailed for the first time with Mahatma Gandhi. He was the man behind the uniting two states that is Nizam of Hyderabad and the Nawab of Junagarh who initially did not want to join India.  Sardar has the complete credit for joining the two nations without any violence. He has many identities in independent India ie Home Minister, Minister of state and the Minister for information and broadcasting.

3. Narender Modi

One of the strongest leader of BJP.  he has the record of being the chief minister in three consecutive times.  He is the present chief minister of Gujrat.  Thus he became the  longest serving minister in Gujrat.  He is the mentor of fresh ideas and  his energetic movements have been made him as youths hero. He is very Passionate and progressive, a poet at heart and an author of a few books. He is one of the most responsive political leader in India. His greatest achievement is that he got from the response of the people from Gujrat. In a short time he became their heartthrobs.  He is getting a very strong support from Gujarat.  When he became Chief Minister, the state of economy for Gujarat was miserable. Gujarat was from the aftereffects of cyclone effects and flood. So it was challenge for Modi to regain Gujarat into its own pace and prosperity. Modi re-organized and traced the infrastructure and with lots of effort he regained Gujarat back on the road to progress and prosperity. Now Gujarat is popularly known as “Vibrant Gujarat”. Mr. Modi believes in the fact that good infrastructure is the driver of economic development. He is one of the leader who believes in great team work and good agenda in work. He has given many opportunities and training programme for the 500,000 government employees in Gujarat which made a discussion by other states.

4. Nawal Kishore Sharma

He is the current governor of Gujarat. He has been into power since 2004 and still he is continuing. The seed of Politics began to grow in his mind when he was schooling. He was so much interested in Politics. He is being inspired by Gandhi and his life. Gandhijis philosophies made him energetic and followed a strict life of Gandhi. He has also taken a keen interest in the creation of strong awareness of education among the hapless people of India and in this regard has also been associated with a good number of educational institutions. He took great interest in the development of Khadi along with Development of Village Industry or Gramodhyog and the Co-operative Movement. His  main issue concerned is unemployment people and does encouragements for village artisan and rural youth for setting up of cottage industries through the khadi institutions. He is the main man behind the Sanchalak Mandal of Kshetriya Khadi Samiti, Dausa for nearly 40 years., one of widely renowned khadi institutions in the country.

5. Kasthurbha Gandhi

She is the wife of freedom movement leader Gandhiji. She married Gandhiji at the age of 13. At that time she was illiterate. She was deeply religious and followed her husbands life style and his philosophies. She became a companion of Gandhiji and travels with him all around. When Gandhiji followed a strict “Bramhachari” she remained silently accepting her husbands wish. She was very much against the caste relating problems and she lived in ashrams. She has been imprisoned for three months whenshe raised her voice against the inhuman working conditions of Indians in South Africa. She was actively involved in the Phoenix Settlement near Durban. In Gandhijis absence she took up the charge of the freedom movement and takes initiative for many  movement. She use to teach poor people reading and writing and make them realize the importance of education. She was suffering from a severe Chronic Bronchitis and breathe her last breath her last on the lap of her husband.

Bihar is one of the most powerful states in India when it comes to politics. Many movies have been released describing the world of politics and its violence of Bihar. Many famous political figures are from Bihar. Caste and corruption have deep roots and just because they continue to exist, it isn’t as if things are the same. Bihar is changing at its best. The government has been to bring more industries to root over in Bihar. Violence in politics is also seen in Bihar. Some of the top political leaders of Bihar are the following.

1. Laloo Prasad Yadav

He is one of the most powerful men in politics from India. He is the supreme leader of Rashtriya Janata dal (RJD). He is the man behind all the fortunes for Bihar. His personality and Ora were tremendous, which led all gold that he touches. He is the current railway minister of India. After his appointment till date railways are in a big profit, and they represented it as Laloo magic. In his childhood days his ambition is to become a police man. However, his career diverted into another way and that was politics. He is referred to as the darling of masses and the favorite whipping boy of the media. His primary step into politics was in Patna university union. After that he was elected in lokh sabha and became the member of Lok sabha at his earlier age. After that he was made chief minister of Bihar. He had to resign from the post of Chief Minister of Bihar after being accused in the Fodder Scam in 1996. After that he became railway minister. His notable achievement started when he became Railway minister. Many parties opposed stating that he was a corrupt leader. Within one year, he made a huge profit for railways an amount of Rs.20,000 Crores as profit for the year 2007-08 and still getting a good amount. His quick magic made him called ‘Management Guru’. Many universities amazed and included his topic in their studies in universities like IIM, IAM etc and being called to give them lectures.

2. Dr. Rajendra Prasad

He was the first president of India. He was a great supporter of Mahatma Gandhi and strictly followed his life. He was there for the freedom struggle and fought a lot for the independence of India from British rule. It was Gandhiji’s influence that changed many views of Dr. Prasad. Most important is untouchability. As he was from upper caste he lacks in the life of poor. Gandhiji made him to get into their lives and made him realized the effect of unity sparing caste and its formalities. He was very keen on poor people and ready to help them at any time. His lifestyle changed after that. He is happy to clean floors, his used utensil etc. He was shocked of Jallianwalah bagh Massacre and called for non-cooperation in Bihar as part of Gandhiji’s non-cooperation movement. This incident provoked him and made his life entirely into politics. The movement spread like a fire in Bihar and made many people aware of their danger if British still rule. He served three times as the president of congress in the year 1934, 1939 and 1947. In 1952 he was elected as the first President of India. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1962. He passed away on February 28, 1963.

3. Nitish Kumar

Nitish Kumar is the current chief minister of Bihar. In India, politicians win elections by the name of caste. The development is an important factor but not so important than a caste factor. Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar is being praised as the man of development across the state, and he is busy in changing the face of state by initiating several developmental projects in almost every sector in Bihar. Nitish Kumar is looking firm to change the image of Bihar and hosted several events where corporate giants discussed and came out with many ideas to further encourage the state government. He has been into the post chief minister ,but did last only for 4 days. He rejoined the Union Cabinet as Minister for Agriculture. From 2001 to May 2004, he served as the Union Cabinet Minister for Railways in the NDA government of Atal Behari Vajpayee.

4. Dr.Jagannath Mishra

Mishra is a well educated political leader from Bihar. His career started as a lecturer and he became Professor of Economics in Bihar. He has been into many fields like economist, Politician, Social worker and Administrator. He is commonly known as the crusader for the cause of Bihar. He was actively involved in the ‘Bhoodan Movement’ started by late Shri Vinoba Bhave at the years 1960-63 . He was very keen on poor people and gave many of his properties to poor people. His favorite time pass includes hearing the poverty of poor and readily helping them. The problems concerning people below poverty line are heard and readily takes action on it was his hobby.

5. Rabri Devi

She is the wife of the RJD supremo Laloo Prasad Yadav. She was elected as chief minister of Bihar soon after the dismissal of Laloo Prasad Yadav. Her post was opposed by many party leaders accusing that she has never been into politics in her life before and was a traditional housewife having only backup and that is her family. She made it as a challenge to rule the second most populous state in India that is Bihar. She was from a very poor family and married Laloo at an age of 14. She is considered as Laloos masterstroke. Several features had been released featuring Rabri Devi. She has done much welfare for women. Her poor background made her to get in deep into a women’s pain and their hard life. For that she started a movement for women who were illiterate just because of poverty, social prejudices in a male-oriented society. She gave an opportunity to acquire good education for these people.
