Chinese Taipei is the name referred to Taiwan. It is the name in which Peoples republic of China participates in Summer Olympics, Asian games and East Asian games. For the last Olympics they got 5 medals including two gold medals, 2 silver and 1 Bronze medals. They were placed 31st position for the last Olympics at Athens. Now for Beijing Olympics they were placed 80th position. They received 4 bronze medals in this Olympics. The flag was held by Lai Shengrong and they had 80 participants in 15 sports. Now lets check out the medalist from Chinese Taipei.

1. Wei-Ling Chen

Chen is one of the weightlifter and power lifter from Taiwan. Chen is the first athlete from the Taiwanese team to pick up a medal. She won a bronze medal for this Olympics 2008 and it was her first Olympic medal in her career. She received a huge round of applause from her country and President Ma Ying-jeou extended his congrats to her. She reminds her training days when her coach admitted that she was a worse weight lifter. It provoked her for a better future and worked really very hard. As for the clean and jerk she improved a lot by increasing more than 70 to 80 kilos. She snatched 84 kg and clean and jerked 112 kg for a total of 196 kg.

2.  Lu Ying-Chi

Lu Ying Chi is one of the advanced class weightlifter from Taiwan. For this summer Olympics she participated  in her 63 kg weight category.  She was placed third position with a Bronze medal by her side. it will be her first medal ever in her Olympic and other career. Lu Ying was ranked 8th in women’s category with a total of 215kg at the World Weightlifting Championships. She was improving on her stage and Bronze medal was a big asset for her. She was form out first time with the clean and jerk and she managed to be perfect.

3. Chu Mu-yen

Chu Mu-yen is one of the strongest competitor from Taiwan. He is one of the best taekwondo specialist from Taiwan. He is the one who raises pride and honor for his country second time. For the last summer Olympics he won gold medal for Mens Taekwondo in 58kg category. He was the first male fro Taiwan to win a gold medal in Olympics in its history. Last year he was often called as “warrior of Taiwan”. He was a sure medalist for Taiwan. But for this Beijing Olympics, he was placed third. He changed his attacking style and his kicks which resulted a bad idea. The final match of Chu mu Yen was so nervous and exciting. They were tie for the first two rounds and he manged to attack for points and made a 4-2 which resulted in his third position.

4.  Sung Yu-chi

Sung Yu-chi was one of the four athletes from Chinese Taipei who participated in Taekwondo at Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. He got bronze medal for Taekwondo for Mens 68kg category. It will be his first Olympic medal in his career. He has been ranked first for the world championship held at Beijing 2007. He began training at his earlier age. At the quarter finals he defeated Uzbekistan’s Dmitriy Kim.

Venezuela is 81th position in medal listings of Beijing Olympics. They won only one medal in this Olympics. Their Taekwondo player Dalia Contreras won the bronze medal in 49kg Taekwondo in Beijing Olympics. Venezuela’s first Olympic appearance was in 1948 and they won 11 medals in Olympic history. Venezuela’s 5 of total 10 medals is came from Boxing. Los Angels Olympics is the best Olympics of Venezuela, because they won 3 bronze medals in that Olympics. Adriana Carmona became the first Venezuelan woman to win a bronze medal in taekwondo’s 67kg category in Athens Olympics. Details of medalist who grab the medals in Beijing are in the following,

1. Dalia Contreras


Dalia Contreras of Venezuela won bronze medal in 49kg Taekwondo in Beijing Olympics. It is the only one medal of Venezuela in Beijing. She defeated Kenya’s Mildred Alango in the quarterfinal with the score 1-0. She was also participated in Athens Olympics, but she finished in 8th position. She is the silver winner of Pan American Games. She also won bronze medal in 2001 and 2003 World Taekwondo Championships. She is the gold winner of 2002 and 2006 Central American and Caribbean Games and 2006 South American Games. By winning the bronze medal in Beijing, she fulfilled all the expectations of people of Venezuela.
