Georgia is one of the qualified Olympics Nation. Georgia first participated at the Summer Games in 1996 in Atlanta. Judoka Zurab Zviadauri claimed the honor of being the independent country’s first Olympic gold medalist by winning the 90kg category at the 2004 Games in Athens, Greece. The country 35 Athlete participated in eleven different sports. Georgia showed their best sports in Judo, wrestling. 1. KVIRKELIA MANUCHAR

Kvirkelia, one of the most experienced and well trained wrestler from Georgia. He was participated in Wrestling competition and he won the gold medal the Greco-Roman 74-kilogram weight class in Beijing Olympics. Kvirkelia’s decisive 6-0, 3-0 win in the best-of-three format also was Georgia’s first gold in Beijing. This is the best golden day for georgia in the Beijing. 2. MINDORASHVILI REVAZI

Mindorashvili of Georgia,who won the Beijing Olympic gold medal in the men’s 84kg freestyle wrestling. It was war-torn Georgia’s second success at the Olympics. The gold man finished just 30th at the world championships last year. Mindorashvili defeated Tajikistan’s Yusup Abdusalomov, Abdusalomov took the first period 3-2, then second period 3-0. Mindorashvili then went on to win the deciding period 4-0. Mindorashvili best Olympic achievement was a Gold medal. He was also wrestled in Athens and ranked 13th.
3. TSIREKIDZE IRAKLI

Irakli won the Beijing Olympics gold medal in Men’s Judo 90kg competition. The gold medal by beating Amar Benikhlef of Algeria with a shido. He also win the 2008 European Championships, 3rd place of 2008 World Judo Championships and 5th place of 2005 European Judo Championships. The Georgian succeeded compatriot Zurab Zviadauri as 90kg champion after his countryman had become the first person to win an Olympic gold for Georgia in Athens four years ago.
4. TUSHISHVILI OTAR

Tushishvili of Georgia participated in wrestling competition and he has won the bronze medal in 66 kilogram Men’s Freestyle category in this Olympics.Tushishvili defeated Geandry Garzon of Cuba, 3-0, 1-1. Tushishvili hit a gut wrench in the first period, and won the second period by scoring the last point of the period in the final seconds. Otar performances is one of the most spectacular and his victory to be a great news in Georgia. It was an incredible achievement for the Georgia. He participate lot of championships and his best for finished the 2nd in the 2006 world Championships, third in the 2005 World Championship and 2007 World Championship.wrestling already was an ancient game. Widely recognized as the world’s oldest competitive sport.
5. GOGSHELIDZE GEORGE

He won the Bronze medal in Men’s freestyle 96 kilogram competition. He defeated with Kazakhstan’s Taimuraz Tigiyev. Gogshelidze suffered the injury early in the wrestling tournament but continued to wrestle with it. He was very powerful wrestler and Georgia’s wrestling is very success at this Olympics. The Medal was the great achievement for his future. He was so happy for his Beijing victory. At one point in his match with Kazakhstan’s Taimuraz Tigiyev, he even got poked in the other eye, but he still continued to fight on. Googshelidze, who has very confident and well trained wrestler. He did very well this match and that performance is good enough to earn them victory.
6. SALUKVADZE NINO

She won the bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol competition. Salukvadze’s bronze medal marked the first for her country in these Games. The 10m air pistol gold was won by Guo Wenjun of China. I think it’s a georgia’s first ever medal. She take the bronze medal after moving up from fourth place after qualifying. She also won silver medal in event for the Soviet Union in 1988 and got gold in 1988 in the 25m event. She is a three-time Olympian.
