The Croatia was represented by 105 qualified competitor in 15 sports at Beijing Olympics. For Croatia finished the Beijing 2008 Olympics with a haul of five medals-Two silver medal and three bronze medals. 1.VLASIC BLANKA

She is Croatia’s high jumping legend. she won the silver Medal in the Women’s high jump final at Beijing Olympics. She won the medal beaten by the Belgian Tia Hellebaut. Blanka was Born in 1983, the Croatia’s star is already a huge hit with the fans after performing her trademark dancing routine after making successful jumps. Blanka Vlasic, the daughter of Josko a Decathlete who still holds the Croatian recorder and her mother who was a Alipne Skier, and successful International Croatian Women’s basketball player. In 2007, Vlasis is the world’s top ranked high jumper. She also won the five gold medal in the Various Championships at 2000, 2001, 2002, 2007 and 2008. She was also won the high jump bronze medal at the 2004 IAAF World Indoor Championships. She is very talented girl and her performances is very amazing.

2. UDE FILIP

He is greatest gymnastic hero from Croatia. He won the silver medal in the men’s pommel horse at the 2008 Summer Olympics. In World Cup competitions, Ude’s best performances include first place on floor exercise at Moscow and Maribor in 2006, third place on floor exercise at Ghent in 2006 and third place on parallel bars at Maribor in 2007.  He also placed fourth on floor exercise at the 2006 World Cup Final in Sao Paulo. Filip Ude by 0.15 of a point, Britain’s Louis Smith earned the same 15.725 score as Filip but after the tie break rule was applied he finished third.

3. PEJCIC SNJEZANA

Snjezana of croatia won the Bronze Medal in the Women’s 10m Air Rifle final. Her first notable success was winning silver at the Juniors European Shooting Championship in Thessaloniki in 2002, and she won second place at a ISSF World Cup held in Munich in 2008. She make his first career Olympic appearance in Beijing this summer. Katerina Emmons of the Czech Republic wins the first gold and silver medal is Lioubov Galkina of Russia. The 26-year-old Croatian achieved third place in qualifications with 399 rounds and in the finals she got to the bronze medal with 509 rounds. The Olympic Games have only just started and Croatia already won a medal.

4. ZUBCIC MARTINA

Martina Zubcic of Croatia and Diana Lopez of the United States won the two bronze medals for the under 57kg class of Women’s Taekwondo. Croatia won the bronze medal after winning in the fourth round, with the first three rounds ending up a tie. She is a very good croation fighter. This is Croatia`s third medal at the Games and Martina Zubcic beat Taiwan’s Su Li-wen 5:4 points. Martina appears to have an easy passage in the first two rounds but a defeat for Elaine at this stage, should it happen, will qualify her for the repechage for bronze.

5. SARIC SANDRA

Saric of coratia won the bronze medal in the women’s 67 kg Taekwondo competition. Sandra Saric won the fourth medal for Croatia! She defeated Asuncion Ocasio Rodgriguez, a Puertorican in the fight for third place. Sandra was reprimanded in the third, and final, round and she received a yellow card. After a break, the result was 5:1 for Sandra Saric, who became a bronze Olympic medallist. she also won the silver medal in the welterweight -67kg division at the 2003 World Taekwondo Championships in Garmisch Partenkirchen, Germany. In 2008, she participated in the European Takwondo Championships in Rome, Italy and won the gold medal in the middleweight -72 kg division.

Lithuania competed in the Beijing Olympics with 71 athletes. They participated in 14 events. They got 2 silver and 3 bronze medals. Sarunas Jasikevicius was the flag bearer in the opening ceremony in Beijing. They won 3 consecutive bronze medals for men’s basketball in 1992, 1996 and 2000. At the 2004 Games they again came up against the USA, this time in the bronze medal match, but again the Americans were able to defeat them. In 2000, Virgilijus Alekna won gold in the men’s discus. It was Lithuania’s second discus gold in three games. They participated in 1996, 2000, 2004 Olympics also. In this summer Olympics they participated in sailing, wrestling, shooting, swimming etc. They can’t achieve any gold medal in this Olympics. The winners of the 2008 Olympics from Lithuania are the following.

1.Gintare Volungeviciute

Gintare Volungeviciute of Lithuania won the silver medal for women’s laser radial class in the 2008 Beijing Olympics . She was the only sailor in the Olympic team. She practiced in Bangputys club in Kaunas, Lithuania. Linas Eidukevicius is her trainer. She won the 4th and 5th fleet races in the Olympic laser radial series. In the ISAF World championships she finished in the 21th position. In the 2003 class World championships she finished in the 20th position. In the 2008 class World championships she finished fourth. Anna Tunnicliffe of United states won the gold medal.

2.Edvinas Krungolcas

Edvinas Krungolcas is a modern pentathlete from Lithuania. He won the silver medal for men’s individual modern pentathlon in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He was born in Vilnius of Lithuania. He is a lawyer also. Jurijus Moskviciovas is his coach. He came first in the fence event with 21 victories against 10 defeats, for 972 MP points which puts him into the lead after 2 events. He started modern pentathlon in 1993 and has since been European Champion 3 times in 2003, 2004 and 2005 and World cup final winner also 3 times in 2001, 2004 and  2005. This was his first World Championship medal and it was Gold.

3.Mindaugas Mizgaitis

A Lithuanian wrestler Mindaugas Mizgaitis won the silver medal for the 120Kg wrestling in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He graduated in Educology at faculty of sport educology of Lithuanian academy of physical education. He won the first Olympics wrestling medal for Lithuania after beating Yannick Szczepaniak of France. Valentinas Mizgaitis, Grigori Kazovski are his trainers. He finished 4th in 2003, 5th in 2005 ,10th in the 2006 and 19th in the 2007 World championships for the 120 Kg wrestling. In 2004 European Championships, he finished in the 7th position. He was also participated in 2007 (8th), 2005 (9th), 2003 (11th), 2006 (11th) European championships also.

4.Virgilijus Alekna

A famous Lithuanian athlete Virgilijus Alekna born on Terpeikiai, Lithuania. He won a bronze medal for the discus throw in the Beijing Olympics 2008. He won the gold medal for the same event in the 2004 Athens and 2000 Sydney Olympics. His performance in the Beijing was less successful. He won the bronze medal at his fourth attempt of 67.79 m. In 2007, he was appointed as UNESCO champion for sport. His personal record is 73.88 meters . He won the gold medal for discus in 2005 and 2003 World championships. He also achieved a gold medal for the same event in the 2006 European championships at Gothenburg. This Olympic bronze was his 8th National title . He also holds the second all time world record in discus throwing.

5.Andrejus Zadneprovskis

A Lithuanian modern pentathlete Andrejus Zadneprovskis won a bronze medal for the men’s individual modern pentathlon in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He also won a silver medal for the same event in the 2004 Athens. Jurijus Moskviciovas is his coach. He practiced in the LOSC club Vilnius, Lithuania. In Beijing the country also got a silver medal for the same event. Andrey Moiseev of Russia won the gold medal for this event. He also won the gold medal in the modern pentathlon World championships in the year of 2000 and 2004. He also achieved the bronze medal of the modern pentathlon World championships 2006 in Guatemala. He finished 7th at the 2000 Summer Games in Sydney.
