Sweden is in 56th position in medal standings of Beijing Olympics. They won 4 silver and 1 bronze with total of 5 medals in Beijing Olympics. This Olympics give very disappointment to Sweden. In the previous Olympics, they won 7 medals including 4 gold medals. Sweden is first participated in 1896 Olympics. They won total 468 medals in Olympic history. Their most of the medals are came from athletics and wrestling. Their kayaker Gert Fredriksson won 8 medals including 6 gold medals in four separate Olympics. Their high jumper Patrik Sjoberg won medals at three consecutive Olympics. Their 97 individuals and 11 teams are participated in Beijing Olympics. 1. Emma Johansson


Sweden’s Emma Johansson made remarkable performance in Beijing. She won silver medal in women’s road race in Beijing. Britain’s Nicole Cooke won gold and Tatiana Guderzo of Italy won bronze medal in this event. At the age of 13, Emma Johansson was interested in mountain biking. She attended the Cycling school of Skara for 4 years. Most of the training is on the road. So she selected road racing as her main sports. She made many achievements in her carrier. In 2007 world championship, she reached in 6th place. In 2008, she signed for the Dutch team, AA Cycling Team. Afterwards, she made many progress in cycling.

2. Gustav Erik Larsson

Gustav Erik Larsson of Sweden won silver medal in Men’s Road Time Trial in Beijing Olympics. He started his cycling carrier at the age of 14. He showed great talent and dedication in cycling in earlier days. In 2007, he won the time trial Swedish championship. He also won the time trial Swedish championships in 2006. By winning this Olympic medal, he proved his talent in Beijing.

3. Rolf-Goran Bengtsson

Swedish show jumper Rolf-Goran Bengtsson won silver medal in equestrian individual jumping in Beijing Olympics. Eric Lamaze of Canands won gold and American Beezie Madden won bronze medal in this event. Rolf-Goran also won silver medal in team jumping in Athens Olympics. There is tough competition between Eric Lamaze and Rolf-Goran Bengtsson in Equestrian. In the final Round , Eric Lamaze and Rolf-Goran Bengtsson were tied for first place on zero penalties. They were forced into a jump-off to decide the winner of the Individual Jumping. Eric Lamaze finished on zero penalties while Rolf-Goran Bengtsson ended on 4 penalties in the jump-off showdown.

4. Simon Aspelin and Thomas Johansson ( Mens doubles Tennis team)


Sweden’s men’s doubles tennis team won silver medal in Beijing Olympics. Simon Aspelin and Thomas Johansson are members of this team. This team was defeated by Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland in the final. Simon Aspelin is professional doubles tennis player with rank 436. He made glorious achievements in his carrier. He won US open in 2007 with his partner Julian Knowle. It was his first Grand Slam. Thomas Johanson is a former Australian open champion. He is currently 66th in the ATP rankings. In the semi final of Beijing Olympics, this team defeated French pair Michael Llodra and Arnaud Clement.

5. Anders Ekstrom and Fredrik Loof (Sailing Team)


Sweden’s sailing team members Anders Ekstrom and Fredrik Loof won the bronze medal in star class sailing. Great Britain and Brazil won gold and silver in this event. This team also participated in Athens Olympics. But they finished in 14th position. Fredrik Loof participated in four Olympics and he won two bronze medals in Olympics. He won bronze medal in Fin sailing in Sydney Olympics. He finished 5th in Finn in the 1996 Summer Olympics, and finished 14th with Anders Ekstrom in Star in the 2004 Summer Olympics.

Cameroon is the united republic of central and Western Africa. Cameroon is ranked 52nd for this Summer Olympics 2008. They had 33 athletes in 9 sports. For this Olympics they received only medal and thats gold. The flag was held by Frank Moussima at the Olympics opening ceremony. Take a look on the medalist from Cameroon.

1.  Francoise Mbango Etone

Francoise is the only medal hope for Cameroon. She is the only consecutive winner of Gold medals for the last two Olympics. Her event is Triathlon and is very much expert in that. She holds the Olympic record of covering a distance of 15.39m at Beijing Olympics 2008. She was trained by her younger sister Essepo. Mbango is the only medalist from Cameroon. She was on a big holiday and didn’t had any time for practice throughout. She was off the circuit in 2006 and 2007 regarding injuries, studies and above all for the preparation of becoming a mother.Her weight fell into Obesity and by strcit diet and hard workout she managed to reduce around 30kgs. She managed for a good come back and was successful in that. She is the first athlete from Cameroon to win medals at the World Championships, Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games. Her distance covered were so consistent that she was the first women to cover 15metres five times in one competition. She is been known as the Golden girl of Cameroon.
