Now Bollywood is very anxiously waiting for their new movie Delhi-6 directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. This film is released on February 20. Abhishek Bachchan , Sonam Kapoor are main character of this movie. Waheeda Rahman , Atul Kulkarni , Rishi Kapoor , Divya Dutta and Om Puri etc are other characters of this film and one peculiarities of this movie is that Big B Amitabh Bachchan is also appeared in cameo role. This movie is based on the childhood memories of director. The story is told against the backdrop of the ancient walled city of Delhi. The pin code of this old city is 110006. But with the pride and love of that city is called Delhi-6. This film is mainly shoot in Chandni Chowk and Jaipur. Mehara makes  this film in different way. This film is about inter-personal relationships, so he made the entire crew live like one big family.

MOVIE REVIEW

Delhi-6 is a musical thriller movie in which we can see Hindu and Muslim cultures of Old Delhi . Roshan (Abhishek Bachchan), a American born Indian who came to India to fulfill the desire of his ill Daadi (Waheeda Rehman) to spend the last days of her life in her hometown Chandni Chowk, the walled city of Old Delhi. Roshan led a very western lifestyle in America, so he is not familiar with the sites and smells, the food and culture, the religion and beliefs of India. Later he understand the complexities of relation between the people and their close relationships to each other. At that time there exists a  miscreant in the neighborhood named black monkey. Roshan evolved in many situations where the Black Monkey has seemingly wrecked destruction. This makes the locals start to suspect him as the culprit. He became involved in Hindu and Muslim religious attacks. He prevents from entering the temple since his mother is a Muslim. These matters forced him to reconsider his decision to stay back or return to America. But there he attached with Bittu (Sonam Kapoor), the beautiful daughter of his neighbor. Bittu wants to become an Indian Idol. But his father does not like this and he arranged her wedding. To escape from this wedding, Bittu decided to run away with Suresh, a local photographer to Bombay. But when Roshan realized that he had fallen in love with Bittu, with the help of Ali (Rishi Kapoor) he tries to foil her attempt to escape with Suresh in the middle of a curfew by dressing up and impersonating the Black Monkey. Suresh panics and runs away, leaving a screaming Bittu with Roshan, who unmasks himself and confesses his love. But Bittu’s screaming brings suspicion to the locals that Roshan is being a black monkey, they attack him and almost killing him. But when they realized their mistake and they hospitalized Roshan.

MUSIC

Music is the main highlight of the movie ‘Delhi 6′. A.R Rahman, the god of music still proved that he is the numero uno in this field. Prasoon Joshi’s lyrics in this movie is excellent. All the sound tracks of this movie were superb and thrilling. The track starts with a beautiful rhyme “Teri Bhavan Mein”. Its a better soothing and refreshing music.Expectations were high for the track “Delhi 6″ and the hip-hop song is the promotional song for this movie. Full marks again to Rahman. REVIEWS

Mixed reviews are coming from the people about this movie. Some commented that it is perfect and others opinion that it is average film. Cinematography of this movie is excellent. This film presents a gallery of interesting and vibrant characters. Abhishek Bachchan’s performance in this film is excellent. Sonam Kapoor’s natural acting proves that she is a powerful new comer through this film. Waheeda Rahman and Rishi Kapoor remind us that ‘Old is Gold’. Also we can see many funny and entertaining sequences in this movie. Oscar winner Rahman’s outstanding musics give a new image to this movie. Actually this movie brings unbelievable India before us. Hope that this movie will gain more collection in coming days.

RATING

This film got average response on opening day. Audience complained about this narration which is neither engaging nor entertaining, Also this movie is overshadowed by Oscar award. Producers of this film cannot able to utilise music legend Rahaman’s popularity in this movie. This film got below-average response in Mumbai and suburbs, but it is well in other places, especially in and around Delhi. Rottentomatoes, the website about reviews rate this movie at 5.2/10. A mixed rating reviews have been collected by askmeany.com. Music is the main highlight and the story is simple and director made it feel in every audience. The movie doesn’t meet up with the standard of his previous movie, Rang De Basanti. We askmeany.com , would like to give a rating of 3.5/5 for Delhi 6.
