“Wanted Dead and Alive” tells the story of a mafia man Sashank (Salman Khan). He is already ready to kill anyone for money. One day he met Sneha (Ayesha Takia) and falls in love with her. Sneha is also started to like him, but she was unable to express her love towards him. At last she expressed her love to him, but she was afraid when she knows that Sashank was working for a mafia gang. Sashank becomes a part of the gang headed by Dubai based don Ali Bhai (Mahesh Manjrekar). He objects many attempts to kill innocent people planned by Ali Bhai. One day the police arrested Ali Bhai, who has been wanted for a long time. Ali Bhai comes out from prison with the help of his gang’s blackmailing attempt. Ali Bhai comes to know that somebody from his group is a police officer. To find the true identity of the police officer, he  kills his  father (Om Puri). When the police came to arrest him then Sashank goes to Ali Bhai’s hideout and after a gripping climax kills him and his gang. The title “Wanted Dead and Alive”  is suitable for this film, because the main character Salman Khan is wanted dead by a group of people. However, the same Salman is also wanted alive by another group of people in the movie. Salman acted very well in this movie and also a sung a song for this movie. It is the other attraction of this movie. Ayesha Takia is acted with Salman for the first time in this movie. Producer Boney Kapoor spent a lot of money for this movie. He spent Rs 95 lakhs for a song of this movie. This movie is the  remake of Telugu film “Pokiri” staring Mahesh Babu and Ileana D’Cruz. BOFORS SCANDAL

BOFORS

“Bofors” is a company connected with the iron industry located in Karlskoga, Sweden. It was founded on 1873 . This name  is strongly associated with a 40mm anti-aircraft gun usually called “Bofors Gun” based on a Bofors design and produced and used by the British during World War 2. Another well-known gun made by the company was the “Bofors 37 mm anti-tank gun”. Famous Swedish chemist and engineer Alfred Nobel was the most famous owner of this company. But now this company lost much of its reputation in Sweden due to various reasons. Main reason of this is that, this involved in major corruption scandal related in securing a contract with the Indian Army.

BOFORS SCANDAL

“Bofors Scandal” is the most political explosive corruption scandal happened in India in 1980. This scandal involving an arms purchase deal in between Indian army and Swedish arms company, Bofors. Former Prime minister Rajiv Gandhi and other many famous people were accused of receiving kickbacks from Bofors for winning a bid to supply India’s 155 mm field howitzer. In 1989, this scandal led to the downfall of Rajiv Gandhi’s government. Ottavio Quattrocchi, an Italian businessman who was close to the family of Rajiv Gandhi is the middle man connected with this scandal. In 1997, CBI filed a case against the senior Indian civil servant S.K Bhatnagar,  an Indian arms agent Win Chadha, Ottavio Quattrocchi, Rajiv Gandhi and a number of others for accepting money from the Bofors, which signed a contract to sell artillery guns to India in 1986. During the investigation of the case, Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated on 1991 and Win Chadha was also dead. In 2004,  the Delhi High Court reduced the charges of bribery against Rajiv Gandhi and others, but the case is still being tried on charges of cheating, causing wrongful loss to the Government, etc. Ottavio Quattrocchi left India soon after the scandal started . The case against Quattrocchi strengthened in  2005, when Interpol revealed two bank accounts of him which contains Euros 3 million and $1 million which had been frozen in 2003 .  In 2007, Quattrocchi was in custody in Argentina on the basis of the Interpol arrest warrant. He has been released by Argentinian police, but his passport has been seized, and he is not allowed to leave the country. Now Quattrocchi again came into the news when the Interpol has removed the red corner notice issued against this man, who is being sought in India for criminal charges related to Bofors scandal. Many people believed that it is the attempt of UPA Government and Sonia Gandhi to save Quattrocchi who is very close to Gandhi family from the criminal charges related to Bofors scandal.

UPDATES

CBI decided to drop all cases registered against the Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi on 29th September 2009. CBI told the court that all efforts to get Mr Quattrocchi extradited had failed.
