2 HARIHAR NAGAR
The most eagerly awaited Malayalam comedy film “2 Harihar Nagar” was released on 1st April, 2009. This Malayalm movie is the sequel of “In Harihar Nagar” which was super hit film of the nineties and was later remade in many other languages. The famous line “Thomassukutty vittodaa” comes from this movie, and it was referred to as part of the golden age of Malayalam comedy and it was one of the entertaining movies in Indian cinema. “2 Harihar Nagar” is also a comedy entertainer movie. One peculiarity of this movie is that actor -producer Lal, the integral part of the original duo Siddique - Lal turned as an independent director through this movie. Lal is the writer, director and producer of this movie. All the main characters who were appeared in “In Harihar Nagar”, including Mukesh, Siddique, Asokhan and Jagadish are also appearing in this movie.However, Lakshmi Rai instead of Geetha Vijayan is the heroine of this film. This movie is the story of four intimate friends.
MOVIE REVIEW
The story of this film is not much different from “In Harihar Nagar”. In “In Harihar Nagar”, four bachelor friends tried to charm a beautiful girl who had come into their neighborhood which led to excitement,action and suspense in the second half of the film. In this film, the director Lal tried to keep the same story and only difference is that the main characters are grown older, but their basic nature remains the same and that’s perhaps the highlight of this movie. The film revolves around the uncontrolled harmful behavior of the four heroes even after marriage. Govindankutty with the short name Goku (Siddique) is a successful builder. He is married to Lena, a financial adviser in Dubai and they had no children. Mahadevan (Mukesh) has become a successful new age guru giving energy talk to school kids in the Gulf. He is married to Rohini who is an engineer and is separated from his wife. Appukuttan (Jagadeesh) is a dentist married to Fabi, a doctor and had twin boys.The last one in the group, Thomaskutty (Asokan) is going to marry shortly. All these four friends are live in different places after their marriages. In Thomaskutty’s betrothal and wedding these four friends reunite in Harihar Nagar and they decide to become young at heart for that time which they had missed after being separated from each other. Soon, they are attracted by the charms of their beautiful neighbor Maya (Lakshmi Rai) and starts troubles in their life. Everyone’s acting give a different look in this film. The four characters look as if they jumped from “In Harihar Nagar” to this film. First half of this movie is for comedy and second half is dedicated to adventure.
MUSIC
This comedy film has four beautiful songs. Music is composed by Alex Paul with the lyrics of Bichu Thirumala. The hit song ‘Unnam Marannu, Thenni Parannu’ in the original film is remixed in this film. This song give a nostalgic mood to the viewers. Songs of this movie are in the following,

Mixed reviews are coming from the viewers about this movie. Some commented that it is a complete entertainer movie and some commented that it is a average movie. Lal did great job as a independent director through this movie. It is really an interesting movie and we can laugh a lot after a gap of so many years. We will certainly enjoy every moment of the film. Flexes banners and posters are seen everywhere. This shows that this sequel film will be super hit in coming days.
