VIRBHADRA SINGH
Virbhadra Singh is an Indian politician belonging to the Indian National Congress Party. Now, he is selected as minister of Steel in the new government of India. He is one of the senior Cabinet Minister in the Government of India. He has been a former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and also served five times as chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. Virbhadra is one of a good qualified and highly experienced politician of Indian politics.The Indian people had great respect to this person.
BIOGRAPHY
Virbhadra Singh was born on 23rd June, 1934 at Sarahan, Shimla as the son of Raja Sir Padam Singh. He gained his education from “Bishop Cotton School”, Shimla and “St. Stephen`s College”, Delhi. He was honorary Captain in the Indian Army. He was the selected member of Lok Sabha in 1962, 1967, 1972 and in 1980. In 1976, he was the member of Indian Delegation to the General Assembly of the United Nations. From 1976 to March 1977, he held the post of Deputy Minister of `Tourism & Civil Aviation` in Government of India and also was the Minister of State for Industries in 1982. He was elected two time to the State Legislative Assembly from Jubbal-Kotkhai Constituency first on 1983 in a by-election and again in 1985 general elections. He was also served five times as chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and he was the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly in 1998 to 2003. He was also related with several cultural and social organizations including president of “Sanskrit Sahitya Sammelan” and “Friends of Soviet Union Society”. He ensured minimum elementary level education compulsory for the children and the government focused on qualitative educational enhancement.In broadly speaking, Virbhadra Singh is one of the great leaders that the state had ever seen.
