KANTILAL BHURIA

The active Indian politician Kanthilal Bhuria was elected to the 15th Lok sabha from ‘Jhabua’ parlimentary constituency in Madhya Pradesh. He has bagged the cabinet minister post with the portfolio of tribal affairs in the new Manmohan Singh government. He is one of the most respected leader of the National Conference Party.Bhuria was minister of state for important portfolios like consumer affairs, food and public distribution in the previous Manmohan Singh government.

BIOGRAPHY

Kantilal Bhuria was born in 1950 in Jhabua in Madhya Pradesh as the son Nanu Ram Bhuria and Ladki Bai. He is the holder of M.A and L.L.B. He is married to Kalpana and they have two sons. Kantilal started his political career in 1980 as the member of Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly and as Parliamentary Secretary of Madhya Pradesh and later as a Cabinet Minister in Madhya Pradesh assembly. In his career, he was positioned in many other fields including District President of Congress Seva Dal in 1976-77, Secretary of M.P. Congress Committee in 1977 , Member of Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 1980-97. He was elected to 12 Lok Sabha as a member and also the member of Consultative Committee, and in ministry of Human Resource Development. He was a Chairman of Madhya Pradesh Parliamentary Cell, Government of Madhya Pradesh in 1998-2003, In 2004, he was a Union Minister of State, Ministry of Agriculture and Minister of State in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. He was involved in many social and cultural activities. From 1973-74, he was a President of Chandrashekhar Azad College in Jhabua and Senate Member of University of Ujjain in 1980-81. Kantilal has traveled around the world and visited several countries such as Argentina, France, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, Panama, Philippines, U.A.E., U.K. and U.S.A.

MALLIKARJUN KHARGE

The Indian National Congress Member Mallikarjun Kharge is in the Cabinet of Manmohan Singh Govt as the minister of Labour and Employment. He is an elected to the 15th Lok Sabha from Gulbarga Constituency of Karnataka. Mallikarjun Kharge is a former President of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee. As Labour minister, he would give top priority to the implementation of social security scheme for the benefit of construction workers.

BIOGRAPHY

Dalit leader Mallikarjun was born in 1942 in a Varavatti village of Basavakalyan Taluk in Bidar as the son of an agricultural labourer, Mapanna Kharge and Gujjabai. He was studied in Marathi up to 10th standard and completed his BA and LLB in Gulbarga. He was involved sports organizations and also represented his college and the university in hockey tournaments. He was started his political career as a student leader in the Government Arts College in Gulbarga and also practiced law for some time before entering politics. In 1969, he was joined in the congress Party and won his first assembly election from Gurumitkal in 1972 at the age of 30. He was mostly associated with state politics having won the Karnataka assembly elections for nine successive terms. He was the second MP elected from Gulbarga to be made Union Cabinet Minister after C.M. Stephen, who won a by election in 1980. In his political career, he was positioned in many other fields including chairman of the LIDKAR and Chairman of Octroi Abolition Committee in 1972, Minister of State for Primary Education in 1976, Cabinet Minister for Revenue in 1979 and 1980, Minister for Rural Development & Revenue in 1990, Minister for Co-operation in 1992, Minister for Major Industries in 1994, Deputy Leader of Opposition during the regime of Janata Party from 1983-89, Leader of Opposition in Karnataka Legislative Assembly in 1994-99, Minister for Home, Minor Irrigation and Infrastructure Development in Sri.S.M.Krishna Cabinet in 1999-04, Minister for Water Resources and Transport in Coalition Government headed by Sri Dharamsingh Cabinet in 2004 -2006, President of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee in 2005-2008 and was also Chairman of Karnataka Peoples Education Society.
