MUKUL WASNIK

Mukul Wasnik is an Indian politician belonging to the Indian National Congress Party. Now, he has been included in the Manmohan Singh’s Central Cabinet as the minister of Social Justice & Empowerment . He is elected to the 15th Lok Sabha from Ramtek Parliamentary Constituency of Maharashtra. He is one of the most respected leader of the National Congress Party.He was also a minister for sports and youth affairs in the P.V. Narasimha Rao’s ministry.

BIOGRAPHY

Mukul Wasnik was born in 1959 in New Delhi as the son of  Congress leader and three time MP Balkrishna Ramchandra Wasnik. Mukul did his high school education from Mount Carmel Convent, SFS High School and also completed his Post Graduation and MBA from Hislop College and Department of Business Management,Nagpur University, Nagpur in Maharashtra.He is a Political and Social Worker by profession .He was started his political career in his college days as a joint secretary of  National Students Union in 1979-80.Then the following year, he was a Vice President of Hislop College Students Council, General Secretary of Nagpur University Students’Council and Maharashtra State NSUI. From 1984-85, he was a treasurer of all India NSUI and also elected to 8th Lok Sabha. In 1985-86, he was a member of committee on the welfare of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes. In his political career, he was positioned in many other fields including President of the All India N.S.U.I in 1985-88, President of Indian Youth Congress in 1988-90, re-elected to 10th Lok Sabha in 1991, Union Minister of State, Human Resource Development (Department of Youth Affairs and Sports) and Minister of State, Parliamentary Affairs in 1993-96, re-elected to 12th Lok Sabha in 1998, secretary of  All India Congress Committee 1998-2001, Member of Committee on Science and Technology Environment and Forests and its Sub-Committee on Food Technology in 1998-99, Member of Committee on Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme,member of Consultative Committee on Ministry of Environment and Forests,Member of Congress Working Committee in 2001 etc. He is interested in reading and traveling and actively special interested in agriculture, law, industry, labor, education and uplift of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.He was involved in number of sports organizations and also a member of Indian International Centre, member of India Habitate Center, Member of DDA Sports Club in sibi fort in New Delhi.He has traveled the world and visited several countries such as Canada, China, Philippines, Japan, Australia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives, France, Switzerland, Egypt, Sharaja, Dubai, Kuwait, Singapore, Hongkong and Afganistan.

E. Ahamed is a member of the Indian Union Muslim League and was a minister of state for External Affairs in the previous UPA Government. He proved his courage by giving assistance to the various problems of Non-Resident Indians in the previous government. Six-time MP, Ahamed selected to the Lok Sabha from Kerala’s Malappuram seat. Now, he is the Minister of State for the Ministry of Railways of India. He was also a five-time legislator in Kerala and also state industries minister in the cabinet of K. Karunakaran.

BIOGRAPHY

Ahamed was born in 1938 in Kannur, Kerala as the son of Abdul Khader Haji and Nafeesa Beevi. He did his graduation from “Government Brennen College”,Tellicherry and completed his LLB from “Government Law College”, Thiruvanantapuram. He is a lawyer by profession. He is married to Zuhara and they have 3 Children. Ahamed was a member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly for five consecutive terms from 1967 to 1991 and also hold the Industry portfolio between 1982 and 1987. In his political career, he was positioned in many other fields including chairman of Municipal Council in Kannur, Kerala in 1981-83, Cabinet Minister of state for Industry in 1982-87, Chairman of Committee on Government Assurances for Kerala Legislative Assembly in 1987-91. He was elected to the Lok Sabha for the first time in 1991. From 1992-93 he was member of Committee on Subordinate Legislation, member of Committee on Absence of Members from the Sittings of the House in 1993 , member of consultative committee for Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism and special permanent members of consultative committee for Ministry of External Affairs in 1993. He was a member of the Indian delegation to the UN General Assembly consecutively for six years from 1992 to 1997. In 1996,  he was re-elected to 11th Lok Sabha. During that time he was a chairman of Committee on Government Assurances and member of Committee on Railways. In 1998, he was re-elected to 12th Lok Sabha. During that time he was a Chairman of Committee on Government Assurances, Member of Committee on External Affairs and Member of Consultative Committee, Ministry of Civil Aviation. In 1999, He was re-elected to 13th Lok sabha.During that time he was the Chairman of Joint Committee on Food Management in Parliament House Complex, Member of Committee on Government Assurances, Member of Committee on External Affairs, Member of Consultative Committee, Ministry of Civil Aviation and  Member of Committee on Provision of Computers to Members of Parliament. He was a member of Joint Parliamentary Committee on Pesticide residues in safety standards for soft drinks,fruit juice and other beverages in 2003. In 2004, he was re-elected to 14th Lok sabha and Union Minister of State for Ministry of External affairs. Ahamed is associated with several educational,cultural and social institutions. He has interested in reading,   writing, music and actively special interested in promotion of education, establishing schools and institutions. He is the author of three books such as ‘One Foreign Journey and Numerous Memories’,’ A Story of Renaissance of Indian Muslims’,'The Leaders I know’ (in Malayalam). He has traveled around the world and visited several countries such as Colombo, Nairobi, Mauritius, Oslo, United Nations, Jakarta, Algiers. In Kerala, he was a Executive Council member of Aligarh Muslim University, member of Board of Directors of Periyaram Medical College, Kannur, Managing Committee member for MEA Engineering college, Perinthalmanna, Kerala, member of Kerala State Wakf Board and member of Central Haj Committee in 2003.
