John Abraham is one of the most talented actors and successful model in India. Now, this good looking personality has been voted as the most eligible single celebrities in an online poll. The Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif is also selected as the most eligible single female celebrity. The leading matrimonial website ‘Shaadi.com’ conducted an online poll and received from more than 18,000 votes. In the poll, John Abraham was named as their favorite eligible male by about 43 percent females. He overcame the other male celebrities like Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Rahul Gandhi, M.S. Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh.
BIOGRAPHY
John Abraham was born on 17th December 1972 in Mumbai, India. His father is a Malayali architect and mother Phiroza Irani, is part of Mumbai’s Parsi community. He had a younger brother Alan. John Abraham’s Parsi name is Farhan. He was studied at the Bombay Scottish school, and he was completed his graduation in Economics at the ‘Jai Hind College’ and also did MMS from ‘Mumbai Educational Trust’. Abraham had started his career with the media firm ‘Time & Space Media Entertainment Promotions Ltd’ and later he had worked for ‘Enterprises -Nexus’ as a media planer. During a photo shoot at his advertising agency, John’s boss told him to pose for the cameras and that was the starting of his modeling career. His big break came in 1999, when he won the ‘Glad Rags Manhunt ‘Contest and also finished in the second placed in ‘Manhunt International’.Then the following year he was fully concentrated in that field and his personality made him the highest paid super model in India. He was modeled for ‘Provogue’ and ‘Cinthol’ and was the first Asian to be chosen to model for ‘Levis Jeans’. He was also appeared in music videos for singers like Pankaj Udhas, Hans Raj Hans and Babul Supriyo. Improve his acting skills, he was joined Kishore Namit Kapoor acting lab and successfully completed a course on acting and associated with brands like Diet Pepsi, Yamaha, Castrol Power, Wrangler, Clinic All Clear and Fast Track. John made his debut in Hindi films in 2003 with an erotic emotional movie ‘Jism’. Unfortunately the film didn’t do well, but his work was noticed widely. Later the same year came the paranormal thriller ‘Saaya’ and romantic movie ‘Paap’, both failed to click at the box-office. After having many box office failures, John finally caught a break while starring in ‘Dhoom’ in 2004, where he played the role of the villain ‘Kabir’.The film was a big commercial success, and it was his first blockbuster hit movie. Other famous films of him are ‘Madhoshi’,'Elaan’, ‘Karam’, ‘Kaal’, ‘Viruddh’, ‘Water’ and ‘Garam Masala’. Later that year, he had a major role in the critically acclaimed film ‘Water’, the film was written and directed by independent Canadian film-maker Deepa Mehta. In this movie, john Abraham had nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 79th Academy Awards. He was followed his success in 2006 with memorable performances in ‘Zinda’ and ‘Taxi No.9211′ . Nikhil Advani’s multi-starrer ‘Salaam-e-Ishq’, ‘A Tribute To Love’ was Abraham’s first release in 2007 and his last two 2007 releases are ‘No Smoking’ and the sports film ‘Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal’. His another notable movie is ‘Dostana in 2008, it was one of the highest Bollywood grossers of 2008. His first release of 2009 movie is Yash Raj Films’s ‘New York’. John Abraham is currently engaged to Indian actress Bipasha Basu and the couple is considered a super couple in India. He loves doing social work .He had also associated with the famous Lilavathi hospital of Mumbai where he donated a cheque of 10 lakhs towards the hospital funds. His another popularize is the brand ambassador for Castrol Power 1 and the Yamaha Marque.

John Abraham had received a number of awards in recognition of his outstanding works. He was awarded the ‘Best Male Debut’ for the movie “Jism” in 2004, IIFA award for the ‘Best Villian’ for “Dhoom” and also ‘Cine Award for te ‘Best Actor’ in a negative role for “Dhoom”. He had received the ‘Rajiv Gandhi Award’ for his contribution to Bollywood in 2006. Further, he had awarded for his contribution to Indian cinema in 2007 by the ‘Giant International Awards’. He was nominated under the category of Best Supporting Actor at Film fare Awards for the movie ‘Baabul’ in 2007. He had received critical acclamation and appreciation worldwide for his movie ‘Water’ in 2005. He had bagged another Film fare nomination for his negative roles in “Zinda” in 2006 . In 2008, John became the first Indian ever to feature in the 25 Sexiest Men list and in the same year, UK magazine ‘Eastern Eye’ named Abraham the “Sexiest Man in Asia”.
