VINOD KAMBLI

Now the former Indian cricket player Vinod Kambli is in the news, when he made the statements against his old friend Sachin Tendulkar or the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on a TV reality show “Sach ka Saamna”. In this show, Kambli reported that Tendulkar did not help him during his downward form. He also said that Tendulkar was confused to accept Kambli as a friend now. He also apologized to Tendulkar for the inconvenience cause to him and his family by the report.

BIOGRAPHY

Vinod Kambli was born on 18th January, 1972, in Bombay, Maharashtra as the son of Ganpat Kambli and Vijaya Kambli. He belongs to a very poor family. His father was a mechanic, who worked in Bhandup, in Mumbai and a good cricketer, and he had played against many former Mumbai player’s & Test cricketers. His parents always helped him and encouraged him to achieve his dream. He started his cricketing career along with Sachin Tendulkar in the Shardashram school and under the coach Ramakant Achrekar. Kambli rose into famous, when Kambli and Sachin made an unbroken partnership of 664 runs in Shardashram school in which Kambli contributed 349* runs.  Kambli started his domestic career in grand style by hitting a six on the very first bowl he faced in Ranji Trophy. His test career also started in a glittering manner, and he gained two double centuries and two single century in his first 7 test matches. His footwork against spinners was amazing. The main drawback of his batting was his inability against the short ball. He is not able to continue his form in matches, and he dropped from the team in many times. He made his first come back in the 1992 World Cup in Australia and his comeback was short lived because he was dropped once again for the tours to Zimbabwe and South Africa. But his second comeback was thrilling by hitting double centuries against England and Zimbabwe in the home-series. This performance gave him a place in the Indian cricket team. Even so, he was again dropped for the series against the West Indies in 1994-95. His third comeback was against New Zealand in 1995 but that stayed for a year as he was again dropped from the team for a tour to England after a dismal performance in the 1996 World Cup. He played in his last Test match aged just 24, and he played his last ODI in 2000. He was always a companion of controversies. However, his jolly nature and his emotion display on and off the cricket field made him fan favorite around the world. In addition, his good sense of humor always helps in keeping the tension level low in the dressing room.
