Shahid Kapoor is the new super star in the Bollywood. His latest film “Kaminey” was a huge success which placed him among the biggest actors of Bollywood. His next film is “Dil Bole Hadippa“, which is completely contrasting to ‘Kaminey‘. Hope that this film paired with Rani Mukerji is also making waves in the Bollywood.  In the starting of his career, he was known for his chocolate looks. However, the film ‘Kaminey’ had changed him from chocolate hero to powerful actor. Hope that in future, Shahid Kapoor will compete for the number one throne in Bollwood.

BIOGRAPHY

Shahid Kapoor was born on 25th February 1981 in Mumbai as the son of actors Pankaj Kapoor and Neelima Azeem. At the age of three, his parents were divorced and he lived with his mother in Mumbai. He gained his school education from Rajhans Vidyalaya, Mumbai. Shahid Kapoor started his career as a dancer and appeared in many music videos and ads including commercial for Pepsi which starred Shahrukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukherjee. He recieved training from famous dancer, Shiamak Davar. Initially, he appeared in films as a background dancer. Ken Ghosh’s successful love story film “Ishq Vishk” was his first film in which he appeared in leading role. In this film, he played the role as Rajiv Mathur and his performance earned him a ‘Filmfare Best Male Debut Award’. He appeared in Ken Ghosh’s another film “Fida” starred with Kareena Kapoor. Though this film was failed in the box office, but his performance was praised by everyone. Also his performance in the film “Shikhar” was critically acclaimed and he earned his first ‘Star Screen Award for Best Actor’ nomination. The year 2006 was his breakthrough year. In 2006, he acted romantic drama film “Vivah” was one of the highest grossing films of the year and his performance earned him the second consecutive nomination for ‘Star Screen Award for Best Actor’. His another film “Jab We Met”, opposite Kareena Kapoor was one of the biggest hits of the year 2007. This film was super hit in box office and he got several nominations for Best Actor at a number of award ceremonies, including ‘Filmfare’. His other notable films are “Dil Maange More”, “36 China Town”, “Kismat Konnection”, “Fool and Final” etc. In his latest film “Kaminey”, he appeared in dual role and he got many positive reviews from the audience. His upcoming film are “Chance Pe Dance”, “Milenge Milenge” and “Paathshala”.

Shahid Kapoor gained many awards and honors in his career. He is the winner of “Filmfare Best Male Debut Award” for the film ‘Ishq Vishk’, “Star Screen Award for Most Promising Newcomer for the film ‘Ishq Vishk’, “Zee Cine Award for Best Male Debut for the film ‘Ishq Vishk’, “IIFA Awards, Best Male Debut” for the film ‘Ishq Vishk’,”Stardust Superstar of Tomorrow” for the film ‘Ishq Vishk’, “Stardust Awards, Editor’s Choice Award for Best Actor” for the film ‘Jab We Met’, “Sansui Awards, Best Male Debut” for the film ‘Ishq Vishk’, “Blistex Awards” etc. He was voted as the ‘Sexiest Male Vegetarian In Asia’ by PETA. He was also honored by giving “Rajiv Gandhi National Award “.

ICC CHAMPIONS TROPHY 2009

All cricket fans in the world are now waiting for ICC Champions Trophy cricket bonanza. The ICC Champions Trophy is the second biggest ODI cricket tournament, and it is considered as the ‘Mini World Cup’. Initially, it was known as ICC Knock-out tournament, and it was started on 1998 in Bangladesh. In 2002, its name was changed into “Champions Trophy” and has been played in every two years. The highest ranked eight ODI teams are participating in this biggest tournament. In the first ICC Knock-out tournament, South Africa was the winner by defeating West Indies in the final. New Zealand, India, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Australia were the former winners of the ICC Champions Trophy. In the last ICC Champions Trophy which was held in India, Australia won the trophy by defeating West Indies by 8 wickets in the final. The ICC Champions Trophy 2009 will be taken place in South Africa from 22nd September to 5th October 2009. This tournament is originally scheduled to be held in Pakistan in 2008, but was postponed to September 2009 due to the security concerns. The teams India, Pakistan, West Indies, Australia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and England are participating in this sixth edition of ICC Champions Trophy. These teams are divided into two groups Group A and Group B. India, Pakistan, Australia and West Indies are in Group A and South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and England are in the Group B. Each team will play with one another in their corresponding groups and the top two teams from each group will advance into the semi finals. Six warm-up games will be played before the actual matches in this tournament. Matches will be played at Wanderers Stadium and Centurion Park in Johannesburg. The Champions Trophy will be starts on 22nd September with the match between Sri Lanka and South Africa in SuperSport Park, Centurion. So get ready for watching this most exciting cricket bonanza in coming days.

The starting of ‘Champions Trophy’ was not good for the host country South Africa. They were defeated by Sri lanka by 55 runs in their opening match at SuperSport Park, Centurion on Tuesday. In this match, Srilankan players Tillakaratne Dilshan and spinner Ajantha Mendis really performed very well. With the help of Tillakaratne’s 106 runs, Sangakkara,s 54 and Jayawardane’s 77 runs, Sri Lanka made 319 for eight wickets in 50 overs. Rain came as a villain when South Africa were 206 for seven in 37.4 overs. Then Sri Lanka won the match by 55 runs according to Duckworth-Lewis method. Sri Lankan spinner Ajantha Mendis took three key wickets of Graeme Smith, Jacques Kallis and JP Duminy. Sri Lankan player Tillakaratne Dilshan was selected as ‘Man of the Match’. Due to this defeat, South Africa moved into the third position in ICC rank listing.

In their opening match, Pakistan showed disciplined bowling against West Indies on Wednesday at Wanderers stadium. Due to this bowling, they achieved five wickets victory over West Indies in this match. In this match, West Indies batted first and gained the lowest score 133 runs in 34.3 overs. Pakistan bowlers Mohammad Aamer and Umar Gul took 3 wickets each in this match. In replay to this low score, Pakistan’s opening batsmen are struggled to gain runs. But with the help of Umar Akmal’s unbeaten 41 runs, Pakistan scored the target score 134 runs in 30.3 overs by losing five wickets. Umar Akmal received ‘Man of the Match’ award.
