The former police commissioner of Delhi, Nikhil Kumar has been appointed as the New Governor of Nagaland on Sunday. He will be taking charge from the Governor of Manipur, Gurbachan Jagat. The Governor of Manipur has been assumed to be the additional charge as the Governor of Nagaland. He was a member of the 14th Lok Sabha of India. He served as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Information Technology. He is the former Chief of the elite National Security Guards and a former Commissioner of Police.

BIOGRAPHY

Nikhil Kumar was born on 15th July, 1941 in Hajipur District in Vaishali, Bihar. His father’s name was Shri Satyendra Narayan Sinha and his mother’s name was Smt. Kishori Sinha. His wife Shyama Singh also represented Aurangabad in the Lok Sabha. His grandfather Dr. Anugrah Narayan Sinha, known as “Bihar Vibhuti” was the first Deputy Chief Minister cum Finance Minister of that state. His brother in Law is Rajya Sabha MP N K Singh, who has been among country’s prominent bureaucrats and served as India’s Revenue Secretary and also Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister. He did his early schooling at St. Xavier’s School, Patna. He earned a M.A.Modern History from Allahabad University. He entered the civil service in 1963 and was an I.P.S. Officer assigned to the Union Territory of Delhi. His passion for social welfare is reflected in his active participation in social and cultural activities. He also leads the Gandhi Ashram Trust in Hajipur as its President. He is well versed in the matters related to internal security, literature, history, politics, sports, films and rural development.

POLITICAL CAREER

He began his political career as the commissioner of police , Delhi. He served in this post from 1995 to 1997. He is presently associated with the Mazdoor Kisan Samanvaya Samiti since 2003. He held many assignments and positions of national importance. From 1997 to 1999 he served as the Special secretary, Internal security, Ministry of Home Affairs. From 1999 t0 2001 he held the positions of National Security Guard and Director General.From 2001 to 2003 he is the member of National Security Advisory Board, Govt. of India. In 2004 he is elected to the 14th Lok Sabha. In the same year, he also became the Member of - committee on External Affairs, the Joint Committee on Salaries and Allowances of Members of Parliament, Ministry of home Affairs and the Consultative Committee, and joint Parliamentary Committee on Security in Parliament House Complex.

Brazilian Formula One racing driver Felipe Massa is now ready to comeback to F1 racing.The governing body of motorsports, FIA gave the permission to Felipe Massa to test drive. Ferrari’s F1 racing driver Massa had suffered a critical crash while participating at the qualifying round of the ‘Hungarian Grand Prix’ in July 2009 and he had remained inactive in F1 racing.

BIOGRAPHY

Felipe Massa was born on 25th April 1982 in Sao Paulo Brazil. At the age of eight, he started kart racing and he finished fourth in the Sao Paolo Micro-Kart category. He continued this racing until 1998 and he made his debut in Formula Chevrolet by reaching in fifth place in the ‘Brazilian championship, 1998′. In 2000, he moved to Europe and gained both the Italian and the European Formula Renault championships of that year. In 2001, he bagged the ‘European F3000 championship’ which made a new highlight in his career. After that, he was signed with ‘Sauber team’ for the 2002 season. He gained four championship points in his first season with ‘Sauber team’ and his best result was a 5th place at the ‘Spanish Grand Prix’ at the Circuit de Catalunya. In 2003, Massa spend a season with ‘Ferrari’ and he returned to ‘Sauber’ for 2004 season. In 2004 season, he scored 12 of Sauber’s 34 points and his best result was a fourth place at the ‘Belgian Grand Prix’. In 2006, he moved back to ‘Ferrari’ as a race driver paired with Michael Schumacher. Massa started well with ‘Ferrari’. He gained his first career podium at the Nurburgring, finishing third behind Michael Schumacher and Fernando Alonso. His first F1 win was at the ‘2006 Turkish Grand Prix’ at the Istanbul Park circuit. He also won ‘2006 Brazilian Grand Prix’ and finished the season with 80 pointsbehind world champion Fernando Alonso and Ferrari teammate Michael Schumacher. In 2007, he won three races and scored 20 podiums and in 2008, he gained 6 wins at the Bahrain, Turkish, French, European, Belgian and the Brazilian Grands Prix. In 2009 July, he had suffered a critical crash while participating at the qualifying round of the ‘Hungarian Grand Prix’ in July 2009 and he had remained inactive in F1 racing. Then seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher was confirmed as Massa’s substitute for the European and Belgian Grands Prix. But Schumacher’s neck injuries does not allowed him to return in F1 racing. After that, Ferrari test driver Luca Badoer and Giancarlo Fisichella were selected as Massa’s substitute, but now Massa is now ready to comeback to F1 racing. Massa is married Anna Rafaela Bassi. He invloved in charity works and he holds a charity kart race titled ‘Desafio Internacional das Estrelas’ (International Challenge of the Stars) every year.
