RANBIR KAPOOR

There is strong competition between Bollywood actors. Now there is a strong competition between Ranbir Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor. Both are talented actors in Bollywood. Ranbir’s new movie “wake up sid” mainly targeted on young urban audiences. Even so, this movie became a super hit in small towns also. The movie’s gross collections exceeded Rs 17 crore in the first three days of release. Now he has a lot of opportunities. He is going to be a busy actor in Bollywood.

BIOGRAPHY

Ranbir Kapoor was born in September 28, 1982 in Maharashtra, Mumbai. He came from the family with a strong film background. He is the son of the great actors Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh. He is the grand son of actor and filmmaker Raj Kapoor. Other notable family members include his cousins, Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and Nikhil Nanda. He was studied at Bombay Scottish School in Mahim, Mumbai. He went on to pursue a method acting at The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York. Currently, he is said to be dating Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone. He worked as an assistant to director Sanjay Leela Bhansali before starting his career as an actor. He made his acting dubut in November 2007 with Bhansali’s Saawariya opposite newcomer Sonam Kapoor. But this film failed to create records. However, he received many positive reviews. He also acted in Siddharth Anand’s romantic comedy “Bachna Ae Haseeno” alongside Bipasha Basu, Minissha Lamba and Deepika Padukone. The film, which released on August 15, 2008, performed reasonably well at the box office. In 2009 he has completed the filming of Rajkumar Santoshi’s “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani” opposite Katrina Kaif. His new film “Wake up sod” opposite to Konkona Sen Sharma is resorted to be a hit. The film is directed by Ayaan Mukherjee and produced by Karan Johar.

AWARDS AND HONORS

Ranbir kabir achieved many awards within his short career. He won the ‘Filmfare Best Male Debut Award’ for Saawariya in 2008. He also achieved the ‘Star Screen Award’ for Most Promising Newcomers in 2008. He also achieved the ‘Nokia Future of Entertainment Award’. He was nominated for the ‘Star Screen Award Jodi No. 1′ in 2008 and ‘Star Screen Award’ for Best Actor in 2009. He is the winner of ‘Zee Cine Award for Best Male Debut’in 2008. He also achieved the ‘IIFA Awards’for Best Debutante. He is the winner of 2008 ‘Stardust superstar of Tomorrow’. He is also the winner of 2008,  ‘Apsara Film & Television Producers Guild Award’ for Best Male Debut. The film ‘Saawariya’ brings some other awards to him, which includes 2007 ‘Star’s Sabsey Favorite Kaun Awards’, 2007 ‘HT Café Film Awards’, 2008 ‘Reebok Zoom Glam Awards’,2008 ‘Bollywood People’s Choice Award’.

NADIA PETROVA

Russian professional and 13th seed tennis player Nadia Petrova gave a shock to World No.2 tennis player Serena Williams in the ‘China Open’ tournament. In this tournament, Petrova defeated Serena in the third round with the score 6-4 3-6 7-6 (7-5). It was one of the best matches of Petrova in 2009. She gained 26 WTA Titles including nine in singles and seventeen in doubles in her tennis career. Serena will be officially regaining her number one spot in the ranking from Dinara Safina on Monday. So this defeat was really heartbreaking to her.

BIOGRAPHY

Petrova was born on 8th June, 1982 in athletic family of Moscow, Russia. She is the daughter of hammer thrower Viktor and Olympic medal winner Nadezhda Ilyina. She started to play tennis at the age of 8. As a junior, Petrova won several tournaments including junior French Open in 1998 and runner up at the junior US Open in 1999. She started her professional career on 6th September 1999. In 2000, she reached the third round of the Australian Open and in 2001, she reached in No.38 rank position by reaching fourth round of that years ‘French Open’ and the ‘US Open’. In 2002, due to injuries, her ranking position decreased and in 2003, she reached the semifinals of the ‘French Open’ by beating former No. 1’s Monica Seles and Jennifer Capriati. In 2004, her ranking position raised to No.7 by reaching the semifinals at the ‘Bausch & Lomb Championships’ defeating second seeded Serena Williams. In 2004 U.S Open, she won her first victory over a world No. 1 player Justine Henin in the fourth round. Petrova won her first title at the ‘Generali Ladies Linz ‘held in Linz, Austria by defeating Patty Schnyder in the final. In 2006, she finished in No.6 rank position. Due to the injuries and inconsistent Play, she was out in initial rounds of many tournaments in 2007-2008 season. Petrova was seeded eleventh at the 2009 French Open, and she was defeated by the world no. 102 Maria Sharapova in the second round. In 2009 US Open, she was the thirteenth seeded and was defeated in the fourth round by unseeded American Melanie Oudin. The 2009 China open third round match is one of the best matches of her in 2009. In this round, she defeated World No.2 tennis player Serena Williams with the score 6-4 3-6 7-6 (7-5). She will face Chinese Peng Shuai in the quarterfinal of this tournament. She also showed talent in doubles tennis. She reached in No.3 rank position in doubles tennis, and she gained twelve doubles titles including the famous WTA Tour Championships in 2004.
