BIOGRAPHY
Abhay Deol was born on March 15, 1976 in Mumbai.He is the son of producer and director Ajit Deol. His paternal uncle is famous veteran actor Dharmendra and his cousins are actors Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol. After graduating from Mumbai University, Abhay headed to Los Angeles and studied Fine Arts. He also completed a two year course in acting. Painting, philosophy and journalism were his other interests. He made his film debut in the 2005 film ‘Socha Na Tha’. This film made his him more famous. His second film was ‘Ahista Ahista‘ in 2006. In this movie, he did good in comedy scenes in both the films, and he improved his performance in emotional scenes. In the year 2007, his film ‘Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd’ has a multi star cast and emerged to be a major box office hit. His second film in this year was ‘Ek Chalis Ki Last Local’. His third film in 2007 Manorama Six Feet Under 21, 2007 which won the Best Film at the MIAAC film festival in New York City. He won a Best Actor award for his role. His 2008 movie ‘Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!’ was a big hit not just with critics but with the masses as well and established him as a dependable mainstream actor. He also be an important person behind the 2009 Bollwood film Dev D, a modern verson of Devdas. Dev D directed by Anurag Kashyap, released on 6th Feb 2009 and was critically acclaimed all over. Times Of India newspaper gave 5 out of 5 stars to the movie. The movie did very well on the box office and Abhay Deol’s performance was considered better than Dilip Kumar and Shahrukh Khan. The music of the movie was liked by everyone because of its deiversity. This movie marked in history because of its cinematography, good performances and diverse music. He is one among the top 250 desirable men. He is scheduled to shoot 3 movies in the summer/fall of 2009. His movies are characterized by down-to-earth acting.
