SATELLITE AWARDS
The Satellite Awards or Golden Satellite Awards is the awards given annually by the International Press Academy(IPA). Satellite Awards celebration honors the most outstanding achievements in the fields of cinema, television and interactive medias. This event was started in 1997 and the goal of this award show is to celebrate new works from established and developing independent filmmakers and to collect the opinion from the audience about the films.
14TH ANNUAL SATELLITE AWARDS, 2009
The 14th Annual Satellite Awards ceremony to be held on 20th December, 2009 at the Grand Salon of the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, California. On 29th November, the International Press Academy announced the nominations for the 2009 Satellite Awards. Nominations were announced in 22 film categories, 12 TV categories, seven DVD categories and five video-game categories. The famous director Rob Marshall’s musical movie “Nine” gained 11 nominations including ‘Best Ensemble’ and ‘Best Motion Picture’ in comedy or musical. John Woo-directed film “Red Cliff” gained seven nominations including ‘Best Visual Effects’, ‘Best Sound and Foreign Language’ Film. The actors Johnny Depp, Jeff Bridges, Hugh Dancy, Colin Firth, Jeremy Renner and Michael Sheen are gained the nominations of ‘Best Drama Actor award’. The winners of the 14th annual Satellite Awards will be announced on 20th December at the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles Century City.
