Yesterday, Bollywood missed their beloved actress Bina Rai. Bina Rai passed away on yesterday due to cardiac arrest in Bombay. She is a famous actress in the black and white era of Hindi films and she is well known for her roles in films like Anarkali and Taj Mahal.
BIOGRAPHY
The Anarkali of Bollywood, Bina Rai was born on 4th June, 1936 in Lucknow, India. She entered into movies through a talent hunt contest and her debut film was ‘Kali Ghata’ produced by Kishore Sahu. In 1950, she married actor Prem Nath and they had acted together in some films like ‘Aurat’. They together formed a production unit titled ‘P N Films’ and they produced films like ‘Shagufa’, ‘Samunder’ and ‘Watan’. But they were not successfull in box office. Bina Rai’s performace with famous actor Pradeep Kumar was always remembered in the Bollywood. They together acted films like ‘Taj Mahal’, ‘Ghoonghat’ and ‘Anarkali’ were super hit in that time. She won the Filmfare award for the performance of the film ‘Ghoonghat’. Her other notable films are ‘Vallah Kya Baat Hai’ , ‘Bandi’, ‘Changez Khan’ , ‘Durgesh Nandini’, ‘Marine Drive’, ‘Daadi Maa’ etc. Her family is also involved in film field. Her son Prem Krishen tried his luck as an actor in Hindi films like’Dulhan Wohi Jo Piya Man Bhaye’ and turned to be a successful producer. He produced hit television serials like ‘Gul Gulshan Gulfam’ and ‘Junoon’. Bina’s granddaughter Akanksha is also entered in the film field with the film ‘Yeh Mohabbat Ha’ and her grandson Sidharth is a successful director who directed the hit TV serial ‘Sanjivani’.
