The crisis on Indian state Andhra Pradesh politics is continuing. Now Praja Rajyam Party chief and Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi was resigned from the state assembly to fight for united Andhra. He also announced that he would begin a hunger strike in support of a united Andhra at Tirupati. He was the member of Tirupati assembly constituency. Chiranjeevi had fought the Lok Sabha elections this year on a promise of separate Telangana state, But now he changed his position after constant pressure from his supporters. After the announcement of Central government’s decision to form separate Telangana state, the crisis on Andhra Pradesh politics was started. Many MLAs and MPs of the Congress, TDP and Praja Rajyam Party were resigned in protest of the Government’s decision to make a new state of Telangana.

BIOGRAPHY

Tollywood’s mega star Chiranjeevi was born on 22nd August, 1955 in Narsapuram, Andhra Pradesh, India as the son of Venkat Rao and Srimathi Anjana Devi. His original name is Konidela Siva Sankara Vara Prasad. His brothers Nagendra Babu and Kalyan Babu are also film actors. He gained his education from C.S.R. Sharma Junior College and Y.N. College in Narasapur, Andhra Pradesh. After completing education,he moved to Madras in the dream of become a film star. For this, he entered in ‘Madras Film Institute’ and gained a diploma in acting. In 1978, he appeared in a small role in the film “Punadi Rallu”, directed by Raj Kumar.However, his first released film was “Pranam Kharidu”.  After that, he appeared in many films as serious and villainous roles. His roles in “Punnami Naagu” and “Nyayam Kavali” received equal appreciation from the critics as well as the audience. He rose into celebrity with the film “Khaidi” directed by Kodanda Rami Reddy in 1983. This film became a super hit and the director-actor duo proved to be one of the most successful combinations in the industry during that period. His blockbuster films are “Abhilasha” (1983), “Challenge” (1984), “Pasivadi Pranam” (1987), “Athaku Yamudu Ammayiki Mogudu” (1989), “Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari” (1990), “Kodama Simham” (1990), “Gang Leader” (1991), “Rowdy Alludu” (1991) and “Gharana Mogudu” (1992), Master (1997), Choodalani Vundi (1998), Bavagaru Bagunnara (1998) and Sneham Kosam (1999), “Indra” (2002). Chiranjeevi is famous for his dare devil stunts and he faced many accidents during shooting of the films. In addition to the politics, he showed interest in politics. He entered in politics in 2008 and started a political party named ”Praja Rajyam’. He contested from Tirupathi constituency in this year’s assembly elections, and he won the election. Now he resigned from the state assembly to fight for united Andhra. Chiranjeevi is also a founder of a charitable trust named ‘Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust’, which includes a blood bank and a couple of Eye banks. He is married to the daughter of the famous comedian Allu Rama Lingaiah, Surekha, and they have two daughters and a son. His son Ram Charan Tej is also a film actor.

AWARDS AND HONORS

Chiranjeevi is well known for his dancing capacity and style. Government of India honored him by giving ‘Padma Bhushan’ award for his contribution to the cinema. He had huge fans in Andhra Pradesh, and he is the only Telugu actor who won seven ‘Filmfare Best actor’ awards. In addition, he gained ‘Nandi Award for Best Actor’ in 1987, 1992 and 2002, ‘Tagore Award for Best Actor’, ‘Filmfare Special Legend Award’ etc.
