The famous film director and producer Karan Johar is returning to the TV with a reality show titled “Lift Karade”. This big reality show is a Yash Raj films venture and it provides a platform for 20 of India’s biggest superstars to haunt for their fans. Earlier, he was the host of successful seasons of a television chat show titled “Koffee with Karan” which telecasted on ‘Star World’. So get ready for watching the Karan’s new reality show with his first guest superstar Shah Rukh Khan on 1st January, 2010 on Sony Entertainment Television.
BIOGRAPHY
Most successful young filmmaker Karan Johar was born on 25th May, 1972 in Mumbai, India as the son of famous filmmaker Yash Johar and Hiroo Johar. He gained his school education from ‘Greenlawns High School’ and gained graduation from ‘H.R. College of Commerce and Economics’. He is also a holder of master degree in French. In childhood, he has a dream to become a famous person. He entered the film world in 1995 as an actor and assitant director in Aditya Chopra’s blockbuster movie “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge”. In this film, he played the role of Shah Rukh Khan’s close friend Rocky and he also selected Shahrukh Khan’s costumes for this movie. Karan made his directorial debut in 1998 with the film “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai”. He wrote story, screenplay and dialogues of this film. This film was box office hit and won eight ‘Filmfare Awards’ including ‘Best Movie’, ‘Best Director’ and all four ‘Best Actor’ awards for both leading and supporting roles. His second directorial film was “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham” which was also a successful film and won five ‘Filmfare Awards’. In 2003, he produced a film titled “Kal Ho Naa Ho’and also he wrote its story and screenplay. This film was also a hit film. After the four years gap, Karan came back as a director with the film “Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna” in 2006. This movie was the highest grossing overseas film of all time. His another producing film was “Dostana”, which was one of the biggest hits of the year 2008. His recent film “Wake Up Sid” is also a hit film. His upcoming movie “My Name is Khan” in which he is the director and producer will be hit on the theatre in 2010. Karan is the close friend of Shah Rukh Khan and Shah Rukh is the main actor of his many films. Karan also showed his talent as the host of a television chat show called ‘Koffee with Karan’,in which he interviews renowned celebrities from Bollywood and India’s glamor world. In addition, he was the host of many film award ceremonies in India and he became the first Indian filmmaker to be a jury member in ‘2006 Miss World’ competition.

Karan Johar gained many awards and honors in his career. He is the winner of ‘Filmfare Awards’ for the films “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” and “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham”. In addition, he gained ‘IIFA’ award, ‘Star Screen Awards’, etc. He was chosen as one of ‘250 Global Young Leaders’ by the Geneva-based World Economic Forum in 2006 and he became the first Indian filmmaker to be a jury member in ‘2006 Miss World’ competition.
