British tennis lovers are eagerly waiting for their favorite tennis player Andy Murray will fulfill their dream to win a Grand Slam singles title. Murray reached in the final of the ‘2010 Australian Open’ by defeating Croatia’s Marin Cilic with the score 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-2. He will face Roger Federer in the final on 31st January, 2010.. Murray was the runner up of ‘2008 US Championship’.
BIOGRAPHY
Scottish tennis player Andy Murray was born on 15th May 1987, in Glasgow, United Kingdom as the son of Willie and Judy. He belongs to a sports family. His brother Jamie is a grand slam doubles title winner and his mother is the winner of multiple Scottish national tennis titles and his grandfather was a professional footballer. Murray attended ‘Dunblane Primary School’ where he experienced the ‘Dunblane Massacre’ of 1996. In that incident, Thomas Hamilton shot dead seventeen of his schoolmates, and he committed suicide. Murray started to playing tennis at the age of two, and he first came to notice when he won the under 12 age class at the prestigious ‘Orange Bowl tournament’ in Miami. At the age of fifteen he left Scotland to train in the clay courts of the ‘Sanchez-Casal Academy’in Barcelona, and he also got training from former world number one doubles player Emilio Sanchez. In 2004, Murray won the ‘Junior US Open title’, and he was selected for the Davis Cup match against Austria. On that year, he won ‘BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year’. In 2005, he became the youngest British player in the Davis Cup and gained the World ranking position 64. The year 2006 was good for him. In that year, he won his first ATP title, the ‘SAP Open’ in San Jose, California and reached in the fourth round of Wimbledon and US Open. He gained 4th rank in 2008. He won Qatar ExxonMobil Open, St Petersburg Open and ATP Masters Series. He reached in the third round of the French Open and the quarter finals at Wimbledon. He played his first Grand Slam final in the ‘US Open 2008′ where he lost to Roger Federer. In 2009, he defeated the World no 1 player Rafal Nadal in the final of ‘Rotterdam’ tournament. In that year, he gained World no 3 rank position, which was the highest ever rank position of the British male players in the history of tennis. In ‘2009 US Open’ championship, he was defeated in the fourth round by Croatia’s Marin Cilic. However, Murray defeated Marin Cilic in the semi final of the ‘2010 Australian Open’ Championship, and he became the first British man to reach more than one Grand Slam final. Murray had four-year relationships with Kim Sears, which was ended in 2009.
