Famous Malayalam film actor Cochin Haneefa passed away on today afternoon at Chennai Sree Ramachandra Medical Hospital due to chronic liver cancer. Haneefa was a versatile actor in Malayalam movies. He showed his talent in villain and comdey roles in many films.

BIOGRAPHY

Famous film actor, director, and screenwriter Cochin Haneefa was born on 22nd April 1951 in Kochi, Kerala, India as the son of Muhammed and Hajira. His original name is Salim Ahmed Ghoush. He gained his school education from ‘St. Augustine’s School’, Kochi and graduation from ‘St. Albert’s College’, Ernakulam. Earlier, he was a comedian in a comedy group ‘Cochin Kalabhavan Troupe’ and later he turned into films. He started his film career in 1979 in a small role in the film ‘Ashtavakran’. Mostly, he acted in the role of villain in the initial stages of his film career and later he turned into comedy roles. He acted in the comedy roles very easily and his appearance in the screen created a laugh riot in the theatres. He has acted in more than 300 films in Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi films. Haneefa had essayed memorable roles in many Malayalam movies, including Hydrose in “Kireedam”, Eldo in “Mannar Mathai speaking”, Mani Uncle in “Soothradharan”, Thrivikraman in “Meesamadhavan” and the mental hospital warden in “Thalavattam”. He had acted with almost all Malayalam heroes from the late Prem Nazir to Prithviraj and his last Malayalam movie was “Body Guard” with Dileep. In addition to the Malayalam movies, he acted in more than 80 Tamil films. His most popular Tamil film is “Mahanadi” and this film give him a major break in Tamil films. His other notable Tamil films are “Kadhala Kadhala”, “Sivaji” and “Anniyan”. His last Tamil movie is “Vettaikaran”. In addition to the acting, Haneefa also concentrated on the other area of film making such as direction and screenplay writing. As a director, he was famous for the film “Valsalyam” which was box office hit and won critical acclaim. “Bheesmacharya”, “Veena Meettiya Vilangukal”, “Aankiliyude Tharattu”, “Oru Sindoora Pottinte Ormaykku”, “Moonnu Masangalkku Munpu”, “Oru Sandesam Koodi” are the other films which were directed by him. For his performance, he gained awards including ‘Second Best Actor’ award for the film “Soothradharan” and ‘Best Supporting Actor’ award. He is married to Fasila, and they have twin children Safa and Marwa. Haneefa is the third major Malayalam star who has passed away in recent months after Murali and Rajan P Dev. So his death was a big lose to the Malayalam film industry.

Bollywood’s famous film maker Tahir Hussain passed away on today due to heart attack. He is the father of Bollywood’s famous actors Aamir Khan and Faisal Khan. The film “Tum Mere Ho” was his directorial debut film in which his son Aamir Khan is the hero.

BIOGRAPHY

Tahir Hussain was born in India, but his family members were connected to the ethnic Pashtuns of Afghanistan. He was a descendant of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. He started his film career as an actor. He acted in films like “Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai”, “Pyar Ka Mausam ” and “Janam Janam Na Saath”. Then he turned into a producer of the Bollywood films. He produced the films including “Caravan”, “Anamika”, “Madhosh”, “Zakhmee”, “Janam Janam Na Saath”, “Khoon Ki Pukaar”, “Dulha Bikta Hai”, “Locket”, “Tum Mere Ho”, “Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke” and “Madhosh”. He was the director and writer of the film “Tum Mere Ho” in which his son Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla are the main actors. Tahir Hussain is married to Zeenat Hussain, and they have four children. Bollywood actor Imran Khan is the grandson of Tahir Hussain.
