DINAKARAN
Karnataka Chief Justice P D Dinakaran was transferred to the Sikkim High Court by the Supreme Court association consists of Chief Justice KG Balakrishnan and Justices SH Kapadia, RV Raveendran and Dalveer Bhandari. Earlier Dinakaran was asked to go on leave by the association, but the justice refused the decision of the Supreme Court association. Several charges were made against Dinakaran stating that he had huge assets and land acquisitions in his Hometown Arakkonam which are not in tune with his know sources of income.
BIOGRAPHY
Dinakaran was born on 9th May, 1950 in an Agricultural family in Arakkonam, Tamil Nadu. He gained his school education in a school at Arakkonam and graduation in Chemistry from Madras Christian College, Tambaram, Chennai. In addition, he also gained Master Degree in Political Science and Public Administration and Bachelor of Law Degree from Madras Law College. He started his career as an advocate in Madras High Court in 1970. He also practiced in the State and Central Administrative Tribunals at Madras. He served in many posts such as Legal Adviser and Standing Counsel for Pondicherry University and for several State owned Corporations such as Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC),Tamil Nadu Sugar Corporation, Tamil Nadu Sugar Federation Limited, Tamil Nadu Co-operative Milk Producers Federation (Aavin), etc. He was also standing counsel for various religious institutions, such as Churches of South India, Madras Diocese and Coimbatore Diocese and Sri Subramania Swami Temple, Turuttani and for several Local Bodies, Educational Institutions, Teacher’s Federations, Agriculturists Associations, Marketing Societies and Social Organisations. In 1996, he was elected as the judge of the Madras High Court and he determined 72795 cases in various branches of law namely Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Labour and Industrial Law, Service Law, Tax Law, Civil and Criminal Law, Revenue Law etc. He was elected as the Chief Justice in the High Court of Karnataka in 2008. In September 2009,several charges were made against Dinakaran stating that he had huge assets and land acquisitions in his Hometown Arakkonam which are not in tune with his know sources of income. In December, by the request of bar members, Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari admitted a indication for the removal of Dinakaran from the post of Karnataka High Court Chief Justice. After that, he has not been performing judicial functions. Then Dinakaran was asked to go on leave by the Suprene Court association, but the justice refused that decision. Now the Supreme Court Collegium has transfered corrupted Chief Justice to the Sikkim High Court.
