Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan gained an advanced birthday gift from Congress party. His birthday will be on 28th October and the Congress party leadership offered him the gift of powerful post of the chief minister of Maharashtra for a second time. He was sworn as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for the first time in 8th December 2008, after Vilasrao Deshmukh was resigned due to the Mumbai terror attacks. This Chief minister ship is the reward for his good performance during his short term as Chief minister of the state. Chavan was elected from the ‘Bhokar’ constituency in this assembly election.

BIOGRAPHY

Ashok Chavan was born on 28th October, 1958 in Mumbai. He belongs to a political family, and he is the son of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Shankarrao Chavan. He is a post graduate in Business Management. Following his father’s footsteps, he started his political career as General Secretary of ‘Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee’. In 1987, he was elected as a member of parliament, and he was elected as a member of the ‘Maharashtra Legislative Council’ in 1992. After that, he served as a junior minister of several portfolios . In 2003, he became a cabinet minister and handled several portfolios including sports, transport, industries and cultural affairs. He was also selected as a cabinet minister for Industries, Mining, Cultural Affairs & Protocol in 2004. On 8th December, 2008, he was sworn as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra after Vilasrao Deshmukh was resigned due to the Mumbai terror attacks. Chavan made many developments in the state in his short term as a chief minister. Now, he was again selected as the Chief minister of Maharashtra and this was the reward for his good performance as a Chief minister of the state. He is married to Ameeta and they have two daughters.

BHUPINDER SINGH HOODA

The Congress leader and current Chief Minister of Haryana, Bhupinder Singh Hooda kept his position safety. He was again chosen to be the chief minister of Haryana. In Haryana assembly elections, the Congress won 40 out of the 90 seats and gained a simple majority. The Union Minister Kumari Selja was also in the race for Chief Ministership, but the Congress party high command again chosen Hoonda to be the Chief minister of Haryana. He was selected from the Garhi Sampla-Kiloi seat in this assembly election.

BIOGRAPHY

Bhupinder Singh Hooda was born on 15th September, 1947 in Sanghi, Punjab as the son of Choudhary Ranbir Singh. He gained his BA graduation and LLB from Punjab University and Delhi University. Hooda held many political positions. He has been the Lok Sabha member for four terms in 1991, 1996, 1998, 2004 and the leader of opposition in Haryana’s Legislative Assembly from 2001 to 2004. He was also the President of Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) from 1996 to 2001. In 2005, he was selected as the Chief Minister of the Haryana replacing the famous congress leader Om Prakash Chautala. Under the leadership of Hooda, Haryana gained much progress. Hooda improved law and order situation, created new jobs, created welfare schemes for all sections of society and ensuring the highest per capita income for the state. He is also famous for leading various farmer movements in Haryana. He was also served in many other positions including President of ‘All India Young Farmers’ Association’, Haryana, Secretary of ‘Farmers’ Parliamentary Forum’, Founder-Member and Working President of ‘All India Freedom Fighters’ Successors’ Organisation’, President for the ‘Khadi & Village Industries Commission Employees Union & Patron for the National Khadi & Village Industries Board’s Employees Federation’, Member of the ‘Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana’ etc. He also attended in many international conferences in many countries. He is married to Asha, and they have a son, Dipender Singh Hooda who was also a member of parliament.
