The famous veteran Hollywood actor Jeff Bridges has finally won an ‘Oscar award’. He won the ‘Best actor Oscar award’ for his performance in the drama film “Crazy Heart”. Before, he was nominated for ‘Oscar award’ for many times. In the musical drama film “Crazy Heart” directed by Scott Cooper, Jeff Bridges portrays the role of a alcoholic country singer Bad Blake whose meeting with a young journalist may help him to turn his life around. He already gained awards like ‘Golden Globe for Best Actor’ in a Drama, and the ‘Screen Actors Guild Award’ for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role for his performance  in the film “Crazy Heart”.

The famous American actor and musician Jeffrey Leon Bridges was born on 4th December, 1949 in Los Angeles, California, U.S as the son of actress and writer Dorothy Bridges and actor Lloyd Bridges. His older brother Beau Bridges is also a actor in Hollywood. Jeff’s first screen appearance was at the age of four months as a infant son in the film “The Company She Keeps”  in 1950. In teenage days, he and his brother Beau were acted in their father’s CBS anthology series, “The Lloyd Bridges Show”. He got a break for his role as the boyishly charming Duane Jackson in the film “The Last Picture Show” in 1971. He gained nomination for the ‘Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor’ for this film. Totally, he gained five Oscar nominations. His other Oscar nominations are for his supporting role in the film “Thunderbolt & Lightfoot” in 1974, for his starring role in the film “Starman” in 1984, for his supporting role in the film “The Contender” in 2000 and now for leading role in the film “Crazy Heart”. For his role in the film “Crazy Heart”, he gained many awards including ‘Best actor Oscar award, ‘Golden Globe award for Best Actor’ and ‘Screen Actors Guild Award’. Since then, he has appeared in around 50 films and his other notable films are “Against All Odds”, “Jagged Edge”, “Fearless”, “The Fisher King”, “The Big Lebowski”, “Seabiscuit”, “Tideland”, “Iron Man”, etc. His upcoming films are “Tron Legacy” and “True Grit”. Besides actor, Bridges is also an accomplished photographer, cartoonist and musician. Some of his “doodles” have appeared in films including “K-PAX” and in “The Door in the Floor”. He is married to Susan Geston and they have three daughters.

NIRMAL PANDEY

Actor Nirmal Pandey, who is famous for negative roles in films and television passed away on yesterday following a heart attack. He  was not keeping well for some time and he breathed his last at Holy Spirit hospital in Mumbai. He is famous for his roles in the films like “Bandit Queen” and “God Mother”.

BIOGRAPHY

Nirmal Pandey was born on 1966 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. He gained his school education from Almora, Nainital and Uttarakhand. In addition, he is also a graduate from the National School of Drama. After the graduation, he moved to London and worked with a theatre group titled ‘Tara’. He acted in more than 100 plays and his famous plays are ‘Heer Ranjha’, ‘Anitigone’. Then he turned his interest in acting films. He got a break in the film industry through his role of Vikram Mallah in Shekhar Kapur’s well acclaimed film “Bandit Queen” in 1994. In addition, he also received good reviews for the fims like “Daayraa”, “God Mother”, “Train To Pakistan”, “Is Raat Ki Subah Nahi” and “Hum Tum Pe Marte Hain”. In the film “Daayraa”, he played the role of transvestite and he holds an extremely unique record for winning Valenti award for the ‘Best actress’ category for the portrayal of transvestite. His other films are “Deshdrohi”, “Aaja Nachle”, “Laila”, “Hum Tum Pe Marte Hain”, “Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya” etc. His last released film was a Telugu film “Kedi” and his latest film “Lahore” is yet to release.  In addition to the films, he had acted in several television serials including ‘Hatim’ and ‘Princess Dollie Aur Uska Magic Bag’. He was not just a good actor but also an excellent singer. He showed his talent as a singer and had released an album called ‘Jazba”. He is the owner of a theatre group “Sanvedna” and an acting institute “Fresh Talent Academy”. He also directed a Hindi play titled “Andhayug” and also conducts theatre workshops. Nirmal Pandey is married to Archana and they have two children.
